Little Indie casts its ears and eyes over more of the latest sounds to emerge recently from Down Under.
FEELSCLUB - DEADLIGHTS
The Brisbane 'trash pop' outfit turn out some thumping synth-wave energy here, with strident vocals and cymbal heavy percussion, accompanied by arpeggiated synths. It's a bit of a killer winner.
MUDDY CHANTER - HEAD RIGHT IN
More from Brissy, this time from alt-rock five-piece Muddy Chanter. From the just released 'Swoop' EP, the sub three minute 'Head Right In' opens on a dirty bass line and sparse guitar, before moving into textured guitar waves, Beej’s vocals and interspersed backing vocals.
EMAH FOX - YOU GOT NO RIGHT
The Melbourne-based electronic synthpop producer follows last year's debut single with this new number. Dark, electronic-pop that Fox describes as a "joyful and explosive catharsis. I started building the track by jamming a bunch of melodies on vintage synths like Oberheim 8 + Jupiter 6 over some really new wave meets hip hop-inspired 808 beats and some bass lines I’d made with some nasty 8 bit samples and dark pulses. I was definitely wanting to capture some of that early 80s pop urgency."
RACING - MOTEL POOL
Auckland, NZ rock 'n' rollers drop this first single from their upcoming debut album set for release next year. The group - which features ex-Checks members, vocalist Ed Knowles and guitarist Sven Pettersen - deal some heavy bass vibes and stadium sized rock energy.
HONEST LIVES - CHEAP WINE & CIGARETTES
Melbourne's alt-punk pop four-piece follow their September debut 'Bridges' with this new energy-driven melodic number from their forthcoming debut album, out February 9 2018.
NYXEN - IN THE CITY
Sydney-sider producer Chelsea Lester follows 'Is It Love' from earlier this year with her latest single, released December 13 via Unknown Records. Delicate vocals over choppy electronic dance beats, minimal instrumentation and swirling synths that meet punchy drums.
