What a glorious track. Through the opening moments of its smooth drums and lazy guitar, it's hard not to believe that Chris Isaak is going to come swooning in on the vocal lamenting about a wicked game. That it turns out instead to be Estonian outfit Holy Motors, is not, at all, unwelcome, however; far from it.
'Honeymooning' is the lead track on the Tallinn five-piece's forthcoming debut 'Slow Sundown' album. Produced by Merchandise’s Carson Cox and recorded at Brooklyn’s Kutch1 Studios, and due on February 9 2018 on Wharf Cat Records, this first single is an evocative taster. Eliann Tulve's downplayed, languorous vocal entwines bewitchingly with the dream-gaze meets psych-western styling. A mesmerising combination.
