** VIDEO PREMIERE ** SONS - Rise
Words: Linn Branson
Introduced here by Little Indie at the start of last year, Brighton two-piece SONS, comprised of brothers Lee and Nick Meldrum, today release their fourth single, 'Rise', through Till Deaf Do Us Party Records.
After storming debut ‘Reptiles’, followed by 'A Love Song' and 'Zealot', the pair have continued with their raucous and intense cocktail of punk, grunge and indie rock on 'Rise', and Little Indie is pleased to premiere the single's visual partner here.
Lee says he was inspired to write 'Rise' after watching a sketch of actor/comedian Tom Walker's fictional news reporter character, Jonathan Pie: "It's mostly about how a lot of the younger generation feel they have lost their voice in the political landscape, but don't do much about it rather that complain over social media. I feel it's like a call to arms that if they keep on being ignored and silenced, there will be an uprising.”
Filmed at PA Studios in Brighton by Thomas Langridge, the clip expands this message, showing the duo performing the song, intercut with footage of various global uprisings and social unrest to carry added weight.
