Track Of The Day :: SPINN - After Dark
Words: Linn Branson
Ah, jangly dreampop. Yay! SPINN waste no time in popping out another little gem after they ended 2017 in epic style with the wondrous 'She Takes Her Time'.
The Liverpool foursome didn't make Little Indie's Ones To Watch 2018 list for nothing, and 'After Dark' proves they are one of the best new bands currently around.
Those fine duelling guitars and frontman Jonny's delectable and standout vocals really make this one you'll want to press replay on. Though he describes the song as his most challenging yet, you wouldn't have imagined it did anything less than flow like nectar.
“It was a song I struggled writing the lyrics to," he reveals, "because in comparison to a lot of our stuff its quite heavy and dark. And I’m not a heavy or dark kind of person really.
“Essentially it’s about seeing some friends' relationship slowly break down. I wrote about it in a 'he said, she said' way because as they say, there’s always two sides to a coin or a story.”
We can't wait for the forthcoming EP (due in March via Modern Sky UK) - produced by Chris McCory of Catholic Action - from this band - as you won't be able to either, we guarantee.
