WOMB - HERE WE BEND (TO SMELL THE DIRT)
The latest teaser for their 'Like Splitting the Head From the Body' album, out March 1, by Wellington, NZ dream-psychedelic trio. The five and a half dreampop track works upwards from a stripped-back acoustic opening into hypnotic layers of vocals, pounding drums and percussion.
EILISH GILLIGAN - S.M.F.Y.
Melbourne's Eilish Gilligan follows last year's 'Creature Of Habit' with new single featuring a pulsing, electronic production - the track was co-produced by Gab Strum, aka Japanese Wallpaper - driving beat, and her soaring vocals, which has seen her compared to Lorde.
BOSS WITCH - GOT IT FIGURED OUT
First track from the alt-rock trio from Hobart, Tasmania who formed last year. It's a mellow, chilled affair with low in the mix vocals and delicate instrumentation.
MERK - LUCKY DILEMMA
New self-produced track from Auckland, NZ alt-pop artist Mark Perkins. Its catchy Casiotone-esque melodies and building foot-tapping beat, work around Merk’s signature vocal style. "'Lucky Dilemma' is about the paradox of choice - sometimes we have so many options it's crippling instead of empowering.
FLOWER DRUMS - NIGHT SWIMS
Self-produced latest from Melbourne-via-Perth duo, Aden Senycia and Leigh Craft. Taken from the album, 'Sunshine Terror Babies', released February 12, the track melds an electronic dreampop ambience with synth waves, big percussion and a soulful vocal.
CONTENDERS - TEENAGE CRYBABY
From the Hamilton, NZ punk quintet's just released 'React!' EP, mixed and mastered by United Blasphemy. A sharp, frenetic two and a half minutes of surf-punk with infectious bass line and helmed by Cilla's dominant, serrated vocal.
