The Skinner Brothers make their debut with the slick, Brit-pop-esque 'Watchu'
Words: Ellie Ward
No, not a musical offshoot for comedian Frank Skinner, though The Skinner Brothers may well raise a grin or two here with this first single 'Watchu', out now.
After touring with The Libertines on their last seaside tour, and pitching up in Carl Bârat & the Jackals' 'Sister' and 'Burning Cars' vids last year, the South London-based, Hampshire quartet who formed last year, had the opportunity of getting recording sessions in major studios such as Warner and Universal, and this debut track, mastered by John Davis at Metropolis, was one of the results.
There's a hint of another Skinner here on 'Watchu', the Mike of The Streets ilk, and while less in your face than another of their numbers, 'Chelsea Boy', it still smells of indie Brit-pop-rock 'n' roll spirit, with a singalong chorus, and frontman Zach Skinner lending the scally lad touch to proceedings.
The Skinner Brothers are: Zachary Charles Skinner (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Slade David Gabbici (lead guitar), Piff Spice (bass), Chino Pola (drums)
