Track Of The Day :: Lusts - Heavy Thoughts
Words: Sam Geary
Released last week, 'Heavy Thoughts’, the new single from Leicester brothers Andrew and James Stone, aka Lusts, is the duo's first new material since 'Sometimes' in 2016 and their 2015 debut album 'Illuminations'.
This new song signals an ambitious aexpansion from the sounds heard across their first record; filtered through fuzz and distortion pedals, driving rhythms and with lyrics partly inspired by J.G Ballard’s High Rise.
“We always want to juxtapose ideas and themes - looking for a utopia in the darkness," explains Andrew. "We wanted to create a song that simultaneously revelled in destructiveness, whilst also critiquing it. The book really shocked me growing up, and continues to do so. This track is about pushing us to explore parts of ourselves and the people around us.”
