10 Little Indie Hot Picks
Ten of the latest hot picks that have been rockin the player at Little Indie HQ over the last weeks.
TOM MOUSE SMITH - BORN BLIND
A Little Indie One To Watch 2018, the youngster from Tyne & Wear is always an interesting little character. For this latest track the video was made on "a Sunday afternoon with an iPhone app" by his dad and sister. For his age and health limitations, he has done a remarkable lot in just a few years - and hasn't yet even reached his 14th birthday!
SAD PALACE - HONEYCONE
The Hampshire indie rockers turn out some funky disco-rock on this sub-four minute new track, with added dreamy vocals, melodies and poetic lyrics.
SHRIMP EYES - AGREE TO DISAGREE
The Peckham, south London four-piece follow 'Katata Fish' from last year, with a laid back start that builds, dipping in and out via off-kilter melodies and lo-fi vocals.
SOVIET X-RAY CLUB - WEEKEND
The Brisbane four-piece deliver a five-minute adrenaline charge of atmospheric post-punk distortion, pulsating bass and shimmering synths on this number, set to appear on their untitled upcoming LP, the follow up to 2015's 'Wake'.
SALTWATER SUN - THE WIRE
Released March 13, Hand In Hive's melodic indie pop-rock signees return with their engaging blend of guitar pop, helmed by Jen Stearnes’ determined vocals.
VNLVX - ECHATÉ
The Californian outfit add some searing post-punk in a style similar to Savages, that blasts its way through just shy of three minutes on a whirlwind of unrelenting riffs, sharp vocals and intense rhythms.
NIGHT OWLS - DO YOU WANT IT ALL?
Latest from the Leeds grunge-pop trio, taken from their upcoming EP, ‘Tragically Human’, out in May. The biting track lyrically references the sexual abuse scandals that have rocked Hollywood. “We thought it would be interesting to explore the arrogance and fear of someone who had abused their position of power, and was about to have their whole world crumble around them.”
THE HIDEAWAYS - I'M HERE, STORM
The Bristol alt-rock trio kick up a foot-tapping new single that sets out its store on a raft of infectious rhythms, before belting out a welter of intensity in its second half.
LA FONDA - IN THE SUMMER
A hint of summer nostalgia, from the Seattle sextet, led by sisters Veronica and Valerie Topacio. Vibrant, jangly, surf-tinged guitars combine with sweet vocals and serene melodies.
CANSHAKER PI - PUT A RECORD OUT
From their forthcoming May release album, 'Naughty Naughty Violence', the Amsterdam indie rock quartet field a fury of raw energy and sharp lyricism, with a post-punk veneer.
