Track Of The Day :: IV League - Superstar
Words: Linn Branson
We featured Melbourne quartet IV League last summer with 'Change Of Mind', Lachie Gilmour and Bella Venutti's follow up to 'Sylvia'.
Their combining of alt-rock and garage-pop-infused fuzz to create big harmonies in a shimmering upbeat style, show not just how well they manage to effect it, but on this new single 'Superstar', also how much they are blurring the lines between Australia and America in styling and sound.
It may well be their best offering to date; the last 75 seconds alone, of just guitars and drums, are worth anyone's time. Knockout.
Out now, 'Superstar', produced by Malcolm Besley (City Calm Down, The Creases, Client Liaison) is the first cut from IV League's EP, due out later this year.
The accompanying visuals, directed by Meg Duncan, focus on frontwoman Bella leading a move - in an often grin-raising clip - to inspire her bandmates to break free from mundane, fast food jobs that quash creativity, grab their instruments and drive off into the sunset.
