From their imminent debut LP, 'Islands (Part One)', released May 4 via Pieater, Australian duo Tom Snowdon and Tom Iansek's No Mono share the fourth single from the record: ‘Frostbitten’.
There's never a bad track from No Mono, each as blissful and carefully crafted as the other. ‘Frostbitten’ too is a tender heart-tugger of Snowdon’s vocal delivery of restrained emotion against stark piano notes, finger snaps, and a haunting accompaniment of strings and synths.
“‘Frostbitten’ is about ending things… Recording the track was like letting go of a heavy, sad weight. It was important to make it in that way because it helped with accepting things and moving on," says Snowdon, of the personal lyrics which swell from the opening of, “I was proper sideways when you said / That we wouldn’t leave together" to the reflective, "Oh, that morning / You were salt on my skin / Oh, that morning / Left us frostbite, frostbitten."
No Mono play Sydney Opera House on June 2.
