Track Of The Day :: Sad Boys Club - American Spirit
Words: Ellie Ward
Following recent stand alone track 'Winter's Tale', our favourite Crouch Enders, Sad Boys Club, are back with a new official single: 'American Spirit'.
Produced by Duncan Mills (Peace, The Vaccines), the follow up to last year's debut ‘Know' and the more recent '15/01’, exudes a somewhat darker, but still with a light at the end of the tunnel, presence. Its big, catchy chorus and the distinctive, pitch-roaming vocals of frontman Jacob Wheldon lend it plenty of appeal for summer festival stages.
Inspired by Wheldon’s observations of two hunched smokers lit only by their cigarettes on a bleak winter's evening, the image stayed in his mind to provide a reminder that happiness might be found even in the darkest of places - if one only remembers to turn on the light.
'American Spirit' is out now.
Sad Boys Club play The Lexington, London on May 3.
