'Fresh Air' is the debut single from young Portsmouth-based four-piece Flowvers, and marks a great introduction to one of the brightest of emerging bands - with more great tunes in the pipeline to come.
The upbeat guitar-driven slice of indie-pop/rock was produced by Samhain Carter-Brazier of The Foundry Studios, and sees the band draw inspiration from the classic sounds of the likes of The Cure and The Stone Roses, alongside more recent bands such as Jaws and Peace.
Originally a three-piece (with no drummer), Flowvers have been on my radar for a while having contributed a track to the 'Daffodil' EP from the Yellow4Change mental health awareness campaign in late 2016. With little music product to go on save a few early demos, I was drawn to some video snippets of live performances which gave hints of the band’s burgeoning talent.
Having already made a bit of a name for themselves on the South Coast of England, the band pulled a sizeable crowd to their debut London gig a few Saturdays ago at the O2 Academy Islington. I was fortunate enough to make it to that gig and they did not disappoint. With a growing catalogue of songs, and unafraid to open with a soaring instrumental, the band gave an energetic performance captivating fans both old and new.
Flowvers are: Matisse Moretti (vocals, guitar), Stanley Powell (lead guitar), Henry Wood (bass, backing vocals), Connor Griffiths (drums).
