Track Of The Day :: Declan Welsh & The Decadent West - Lull
Words: Linn Branson
This is a true banger of a song from a band with the makings of being something a bit special, from what we saw of them at The Great Escape.
From their upcoming 'All My Dreams Are Dull' debut EP, out June 1, the Glasgow outfit go straight for the jugular on new single 'Lull'.
There really isn't any 'lull' as they nail an energetic indie-rock style with driving guitars and sharp, acerbic lyrics that Welsh says are "about self doubt, it’s about the futility of existence, it’s about making art, trying to leave a mark, being lazy, delusions of grandeur. It’s basically about the fact that all of us are trying really hard to find meaning, and about how some of us choose making stuff as that meaning."
It's bloody great, too.
