Winners of the Liam Gallagher-backed Pirate Studios Prodigies Programme announced
After 2,000 UK acts applications, and 50,000 public votes, the four best emerging UK bands in 2018 have finally been revealed.
Backed by Kate Nash and the teams behind Liam Gallagher, Charli XCX and The Libertines, the winners are:
Sheffield-based six-piece teenage cult girl indie activists The Seamonsters
West Midlands primary school teacher and burgeoning songsmith, Alex Ohm
Merseyside's Red Rum Club, taking the UK by storm with their unique mariachi inspired indie-rock
Explosive Swindon three-piece Yves, who have grown a UK fan base with their grafting DIY approach, amassing over 1 million Spotify plays
They will all receive a team of expert industry mentors, unlimited rehearsal and recording time and festival stage slots, including this year’s Isle of Wight.
What makes the Pirate Prodigy programme different is Pirate Studios' ethos of being on the artist’s side, waiving the rights to any ownership of the winners and their material. Together with the team of all-star industry mentors they will be concentrating on accelerating the careers of the four winners over the next 12 months.
The winners will be performing at three showcase events in London on June 7, Bristol - 8th, and Liverpool on June 9. Click here for details of these free events.
