The Vedettes are a brand spanking new indie outfit from York, who have just, as of last Friday, released their debut single 'Silver'.
The five-piece alt-indie rockers draw on influences from the likes of Circa Waves, Peace, and Jaws, but still manage to bring their own style to this "Britbop-by-way-of-alt-rock" first outing.
Opening on atmospheric guitar, when Simon Hall's vocals hit they might not be as strong as expected, but they have a distinctive edge, and with a driving bass, Michele Pascale's thudding drums and percussion, it comes to a decent 2:50 minutes of jangly indie persuasion.
