Wichita Recordings' newest signing Indoor Pets embark on a relatively rare trip to Leeds, although you wouldn’t think it by the size of the crowd that was present on this autumnal night at the Key Club. What was also interesting to note was the varied range of ages present, from freshers to, well, not so fresh, but still giving their all in aid of a fantastic atmosphere.

Introducing themselves with a simple 'hi', they kick straight off with their first single on their new label, called funnily enough, ‘Hi’, with vocalist Jamie Glass showing off his somewhat eccentric style to good measure. Due to his abundant zeal on the guitar, it wasn't long before one of his guitar strings pranged, thus giving drummer Rob Simpson an opportunity to vamp it up and fill in the 'dead air' with a bit of chit-chat about the weather and how had people's days been, before Mr Glass returned newly strung and the crowd were thrown right back into it.

Much of the set tonight are songs released under their previous Get Inuit moniker, and it's clear to see that despite the complications that may follow a name change in this rather fickle music business, most of, if not all, of their previous following remains intact, delivered as always with enthusiasm and passion.

The band themselves currently have an extremely strong run of singles under their belt from early 2017’s ‘Barbiturates’ through to recently released ‘So Soon’ and ‘Hi’ which offers no surprise to why they were snapped up by Wichita. There were some new songs present in tonight’s set as well: ‘Heavy Thoughts’ which follows the loud-quiet-loud-quiet route, and ‘Being Strange’, which unlike its title was very well embedded and didn’t interrupt the momentum already gained previously.

Drawing the night to a close were what are probably well regarded as the crown jewels of Indoor Pets' set and back catalogue. Fans are brought to fever pitch heights, with live favourites ‘Barbiturates’ and the raucous ‘Pro Procrastinator’ (with the most relatable lyric for the freshers: “I’m wasting my life” - very apt indeed ) are pulled out for a fierce and intense finale, with the 10-song set leaving the crowd begging for more. Just as it should be.
