Little Indie #Blogtoberfest featuring... THE LIDS
'Tis the month of October and that can only mean one thing: #Blogtoberfest. Once again the highlight of the London music scene will see 31 free gigs take place at North London venue The Finsbury across the month, curated by some of the finest online music sites in the UK.
Little Indie's show will take place on Saturday October 27 and we will be playing host to four emerging bands that have impressed us over the last 12 months. From Cardiff we have teen four-piece AL MOSES with their debut single imminent; attitude and riff-laden trio from Leicester, THE LIDS; newly hatched and raring to go, Fife four-piece PARIS STREET REBELS, and driving Newton-le-Willows quartet who put the kick ass in K, THE K's.
Entrance is free, but to secure admittance it is advisable to order a ticket beforehand from here. But if you can't plan ahead or just decide on the day you want to come along, you should still be able to get in! If it looks like selling out we will keep you informed by social media in good time.
See the latest on the Facebook event link.
Over the next days we will highlight each of our four bands to give you a taste of what to expect on the night. Today we continue with THE LIDS.
The Lids have been on the Little Indie radar since early last year when we first heard 'It's Not The Weather'. Packing plenty of riffs and a healthy dose of attitude, they condense the rock and pop into chugging bursts of good feel vibes.
In the hot seat to answer a few questions is vocalist/bassist Liam Butler.
As one of Little Indie's top four for our #Blogtober night, tell us a little about yourselves, where you're from and what you've done.
Well, we’re all from lovely Leicestershire (which is the most important information). The band has been playing live for over 3 years now and have played loads of gigs all over, including sets at festivals like Tramlines and YNot festival. We recently played a massive sold out show at The Cookie in Leicester as well, which was a mad night! Last thing is that me and Rhys (guitarist) are brothers, which is pretty cool.
For those who haven't seen or heard of you before, sum up your style and sound in a few sentences.
I reckon I’d describe our sound as pretty beefy and that our songs pack a punch, but I feel like we can bring other elements into our music to make it funkier or softer. It’s mostly an alternative type of sound as a general term.
What would you say is the most vital aspect of your live performance?
I think the main thing is having energy and actually enjoying what we do. If you don’t look like you’re enjoying it, then the people watching definitely won’t.
Name one song in your set that really works the room.
For me, the one that I love playing and that I feel people always enjoy is 'Floating in my head', we love to get everyone bouncing to that. 'I’m so Bleak' is fun to play as well - which is our latest release!
If folks want to check you out before the night, where can they find you online?
Well, all of our music is on Spotify, Soundcloud, Apple Music and other streaming sites if you just search for our name, but you can usually find our songs from our social media sites as well.
