New Communion Records signing, the Brighton five-piece MarthaGunn, released their rather fine debut single ‘Saint Cecilia’ this week.
Produced by Bear’s Den’s Kevin Jones, it paves the way for their first EP due later this year - and in advance of next month's live dates and summer festivals.
"When you ask yourself a question, instinct will usually answer. This song is about ignoring those guiding voices", is how the band describe ‘Saint Cecilia’, which pairs 70s style synths with rocky riffs, and the soaring voice of Abi Woodman. The band have been around for four years so it has taken a while to get this first release off the ground, but hopefully there will be more in the offing.
