Club Kuru share their 'Film Credits'
Words: Sam Geary
Ahead of the release of forthcoming album 'Meet Your Maker' - out May 3 via Dog Holiday Records - Club Kuru share a new track from it, 'Film Credits'.
"Laurence and I had an interesting loop going in the studio and we thought it sounded a bit like the ending credits to an old film," explains vocalist Laurie Erskine. "We stumbled upon a unusual verse and the whole thing slotted together rather quickly. It had a romantic, meandering quality that we stuck with, and that became the chorus to the song which we named 'Film Credits'. I based the verse lyrics on a conversation from Mike Leigh’s 1993 film Naked, in which David Thewlis’s character, Johnny, talks about the universe and about all time stretching both back and forward."
'Meet Your Maker' follows the duo's debut album 'Giving In', released last year.
Club Kuru play London's Oslo on May 15, and The Crofters Rights in Bristol on May 17.
