The Great Escape Q + A :: Walt Disco

It's time once again for Little Indie's annual seaside excursion to The Great Escape - and for our usual pick of some of the artists we have down for bringing something special to the Brighton festival.

Today we feature on-the-rise Scottish five-piece Walt Disco. With a Sparks-esque appeal and fronted by the enigmatic James Power, they are the quirky Glaswegians who will offer you something a little different. Their last single, 'My Pop Sensibilities', was co-written with The Ninth Wave's Haydn Park-Patterson, and recorded by Chris McCrory of Catholic Action.

1. First time at TGE?

It is!

2. Are you a seasoned Escaper as a punter, or a first-time newbie?

We went along last year as punters. The weather in Brighton feels tropical compared to Glasgow, so we love it.

3. Will you be a Brighton day-tripper or staying for the whole event?

We’re staying for the whole event!

4. The highlight of your set will be...?

I love playing our new songs! Our most recent addition to the set is a song called 'Night and Day'. It sounds like an angry A Flock of Seagulls tune.

5. Where will we be likely to find you after your set: at the bar, on
the beach, stuffing fish n chips, or other?

On the beach! It’s a nice novelty.

6. Aside from building sand(-or probably more pebble)castles on the beach with your little bucket and spade, what else will you be up to in Brighton?

We went to a pizza place called Purezza last year and it was amazing. All VEGAN!

7. Who else playing at TGE are you hoping to see yourself, or would
recommend others should put on their must see list?

We’ll definitely be going to see: Talk Show, Working Men’s Club, The Ninth Wave, Lucia, Sports Team, Jockstrap, The Van T’s, Pixx, Amahla, and Crack Cloud. I’ve probably missed loads of artists too.

8. Please give your festival appearance/s, venues and stage times.

Thursday at 2.30pm at One Church, and 9.15pm the same evening at Horatios on the pier. We also have one on the Friday and Saturday.

9. Any tips for festival goers?

Have a glass of water between every champagne x

10. Complete this sentence: "You must see us at The Great Escape because..."

... chances are, you haven’t seen us before.
