Track Of The Day :: Cascaders - Raindance
Words: Linn Branson
The young (average age: 17) Liverpool five-piece Cascaders are following favourably in the footsteps of the likes of fellow Merseysiders SPINN, with an easily accessible sound, built around a dreamy mix of swirling guitars and synths.
Their debut single 'Raindance' - released this week - will be the first hearing of Cascaders no doubt for the majority, but it us unlikely to be the last.
The jangly opening with Dom Thornton's vocal layered over an energetic swathe of vibrant drums and intoxicating synths, is going to make this not just a top debut, but with radio-friendly and live appeal.
"'Raindance' is our first ever actual release. The inspiration behind it as a first single was that it was showing a feeling of anticipation and things where guaranteed to change in the near future at the time of writing the song," bassist Josh Harvey tells Little Indie.
"We try to make the change seem like a storm building hence the name raindance. The song building through the bridge is this storm building and then kicks in to the verse like the storm arriving at the end of the song."
Catch the band live tonight (May 3) when they play a single launch show at District in Liverpool.
Cascaders are: Dom Thornton - vocals, rhythm guitar; Gabe Stockley - lead guitar, backing vocals; Joe Tilling - synthesiser, backing vocals; Josh Harvey - bass; Jude Hatton-Holland - drums
