Newcastle singer-songwriter Callum Pitt draws influences from the likes of The War On Drugs, Fleet Foxes and Bon Ever, but supplemented with his own style of finger-picked folk riffs augmenting a stunning falsetto and rich harmonies.
Little Indie first came across Callum two years ago with the release of 'You'd Better Sell It While You Can'. This time around we acknowledge the release tomorrow (June 14, via Kaleidoscope Records) of his debut EP ‘Poisoned Reveries’, with the premiere of its lead track, 'Slow My Heart Rate Down'.
The track is immensely soothing, and beautifully constructed. What stands out is the simplicity, but so stunningly delivered by Callum, whose voice is one that could hold back time, yet alone slow your heart rate down - though watch out for the big build.
“Myself and many close to me get quite bad anxiety, so the track records how it feels to have an attack from anxiety," reveals Callum on the motivation behind 'Slow My Heart Rate Down'.
"The song was written and recorded in a way which would reflect the feeling of your heartbeat getting faster and faster, feeling helpless and having thoughts racing through your head, all coming to a crescendo before a calm state is reached.”
