Glows shines on the addictive 'Afterthought'
Words: Sam Geary
South London experimental artist Glows releases his new single ‘Afterthought’, taken from his incoming debut EP ‘JL Hooker Lover Pleasure Forever’, out September 20 via Slow Dance.
The track is partnered with a video accompaniment that shows GG Skips - aka Glows - and director Felix Bayley Higgins exploring between London and Hastings in a playful manner with flags that he has made to contextualise his “love of myth, red and blue, spiritual iconography, tapestry, psychogeography and journey.”
The track itself uses gently pulsing drums, pitched vocals and airy pad synth chords to make ‘Afterthought’ a strange and addictive listen that manages to be both warm, yet unsettling. The second half fuses piano and samples, as the groove tightens into the outro to create a euphoric tension.
Listen and watch here.
