'Hit Me Up' say New Yorkers' WIVES
Words: Sam Geary
With the release of their debut album, 'So Removed' arriving on October 4 on City Slang, Queens, New York quartet WIVES offera new taster of the record in the form of 'Hit Me Up'.
The melodic, scuzzy punk-rock of 'Hit Me Up' glides along on waves of surf-tinged guitars and percussion.
"'Hit Me Up' was written form the point of view of a New Yorker who can't let go," explains vocalist, guitarist and primary songwriter, Jay Beach. "His everyday reality does not jibe with what is going on in his head, and he's holding onto a past that never existed in the first place."
