Released last week (August 23), 'Cuts' makes its debut from Australian indie-pop two-piece Wing Defence.
Adelaide-based Skye Lockwood and Paige Court deliver an easy, lo-fi appeal on this first offering of the year, after last December's 'Hindsight'.
It's going to get under your skin, this one; the vocals are more than just interesting, delightfully arranged and
with that same addictive quality they displayed previously, while the melodies flow, but with a touch of bite to keep it edgy.
Recorded at Repeater in Adelaide and mastered by Rick O’Neil (Silverchair, You Am I, Powderfinger), Wing Defence channel raw honesty on the track. “‘Cuts’ explores Skye’s experience with her two week stint on the dating app Tinder, and emphatically includes the on-going experience of her friends who have also dabbled with the fickle and rather disappointing outcomes," they say of the track.
Wing Defence play a single launch show on September 13 at Crown and Anchor, Adelaide.
