Track Of The Day :: White Flowers - Night Drive

Words: Linn Branson

There's something evocatively American about White Flowers, Katie Drew and Joey Cobb, that makes knowing their gothic dreampop hails from more prosaic Preston, even more intriguing.

Taken from their upcoming AA side 12" (with 'Portra'), out February 14 - limited to 100 copies that come in a hand stamped sleeve and includes a ‘zine produced by the band - the duo release 'Night Drive' this week through Tough Love Records.

Swirling guitars work around Katie Drew's ethereally pleasing voice on the track, co-produced by Doves’ guitarist, Jez Williams; accompanied by a sturdy, droning beat, 'Night Drive' is a journey into other realms.

"Creating and crafting the songs has always been a therapeutic outlet for us," says Cobb. "It’s been a long process, but it’s been one which has helped us deal with the frustration, worries and difficulties that come with every day life. It’s definitely a very cathartic record. It serves as a kind of journal of growing up and maturing in the 21st Century."

Later this month White Flowers head out on tour with TOY to celebrate Independent Venue Week. Scroll down for dates.
