Little Indie's Ones To Watch Part 3

2020 may have been something of a damp squib in terms of everything, not least the music world. But, nevertheless, we still managed to find a whole host of new artists emerging as well as those who first raised their heads a little earlier shining through.

We asked a few of our contributors to give us a handful of acts that have been impressing them and who they are earmarking for more attention in 2021.

Here in Part 3, Paul Dawson shares his recommended choices.

Gallus

Glasgow's Gallus provided two mega-hits last year, the blistering  ‘Marmalade’, and ‘What Do I Know’. They have gained a stellar reputation for their bold and energetic antics, as well as their fantastic live performance. Mixing fine production with bombastic vocals and terrific storytelling, Gallus are beginning to pick up steam, and come June 2021 will perform at Scotland biggest festival TRNSMT.

Alfie Indra

Alfie Indra is beginning to garner a name for himself through appearances on JaackMaate's YouTube channel and his ‘Happy Hour’ podcast. Norwich-based Indra's style of upbeat indie music, channelling melancholy lyrics, has come along after a year of looking for his style, and gaining popularity initially by his restyling of YouTuber music into 80s classics.

The Hubbards

Hull's alt-indies The Hubbards are a classic British indie band, who have been steadily releasing tracks from 2015. Great storytelling, production and vocals, they have been criminally underrated for years and hopefully in 2021 we will see the band burst into the popularity they deserve.

The Skinner Brothers

The South London-based Skinner Brothers are an extremely talented group of individuals, with a no-nonsense, in your face attitude, who make truly exciting music which rocks you to the bone. Championed by the Libertines, they are rebelliou . with any excuse to start a riot. Hopefully in 2021 The Skinner Brothera will be rebelling in a town near you.
