Best new tracks Down Under #30
With the vibrant indie music scene in Australia and New Zealand constantly outshining much of the output from their British and American cousins, Little Indie picks our weekly bunch of some of the best new tracks on offer.
LIMITED PAST - DARKNESS
Perth-based EDM dance duo, Travis Dickerson and Kevin Plunkett, with their 80s synthpop first track together. Propulsive, hypnotic, electronic laid back vibes with a motorik drive, this new tune follows a run of recent online uploads.
RYLAND ROSE - BLINDFOLD
Following the likes of ‘Gimme That’ and ‘Brooke Shields’, which have seen him amass over 1m Spotify streams, the Melbourne-based hip hop rapper and songwriter Ryan Egan returns with this new single, accompanied by a five-minute visual, produced by long time partner JakeOnKeys, and which precedes upcoming album ‘DORK’, due next month.
DOM DOLLA - TAKE IT
Released July 27 via Sweat It Out, the Melbourne-based techno/house producer and DJ releases his first new material of 2018. "I put the bones of this tune together in a hotel room while road tripping between gigs in Arizona earlier this year, feeling heavily inspired by the west coast club audiences I was playing to. The vocals were written and recorded while sick in bed, using my tour manager's iPhone earbud microphone and a duvet as my vocal booth. At the time I had planned on replacing my recording with a cleaner take when I got home to Australia, but was never able to recreate something I liked as much, so it stayed!"
ALMOND SOY - SILHOUETTE
Following January's release of debut EP 'Social Misfit' - and Little Indie New Year fave, 'Happy Ever After', the Perth-based band release this new energetic single which shows off their multi-dimensional talent, with its beat-driven dancefloor groove and 80s inspired sonic grandeur, while lyrically exploring the notion of teenage love and modern themes of lust and loss.
SAM BLUER - BODY HIGH
'I'm so addicted to you' is the line in the Melbourne artist's follow-on from recent intro 'Shift', which you will probably be after hearing the seductive vocals matched with a dark electro-pop production. Lyrically it is about yearning to get back with an ex, he reveals. “You just want to get high with them one last time. They’re the only one who can make you feel amazing again.”
WOLFJAY - SHE CALLS TO ME
Co-produced with Hayden Jeffery, ‘She Calls To Me’, the Adelaide-based musician says, is "about letting go, moving on, and focusing on what matters most". Sonically caressing, percussion-driven track with a warm, washed-out vibes.
