Waxahatchee reveals new EP and shares 'Chapel of Pines' visuals

Words: Ellie Ward

Katie Crutchfield aka Waxahatchee has announced a new EP, 'Great Thunder', will be out on September 7 via Merge Records. This will be her first release since last year's 'Out In The Storm' full-length.

The six tracks were initially written some time ago during the making of albums 'Cerulean Salt' and 'Ivy Tripp', when Crutchfield and former Swearin’ member and sometimes Waxahatchee co-producer Keith Spencer, were part of a group known as Great Thunder.

“I would say that it is a complete 180 from the last record: super stripped-down, quiet, and with me performing solo, it’s a throwback to how I started,” she reveals.

The first song to be come from the EP is the acoustic ballad 'Chapel of Pines', which she shares via Christopher Good's video.
