Track Of The Day :: Erthlings - Bridges

Words: Ellie Ward

Released last week (August 24) via Future Classic, 'Bridges' is the impressive debut single from Erthlings, a teen unit from Sydney, and Little Indie is the first UK publication to bring these girls to you (thank us later).

The four 16-year-old high school friends - Issy (vocals, keys), Jessame (guitar, backing vocals), Issy's cousin Taylor (bass), and Lissa (drums) - have not only got a record out, but are also about to play at BIGSOUND festival and support G Flip at her three Sydney shows.

The glorious, woozy indie-pop breeze 'Bridges' floats on a shimmery guitar line and Issy's icy vocals hit the spot, opening with “I’m finally free / burning bridges / now I can breathe / healing stitches," accompanied by inconspicuous harmonies which contrast with the catchy rhythm section and synth stabs.

Lyrically, the track was written, says Issy, "around the idea of moving on, and feeling dragged down. This really helped us write about how we felt. We hope that the song is relatable and people can identify with it. 'Bridges' is one of our more powerful songs, so we felt it was a good debut single for people to get familiar with us."
