Listen :: Ryvers - DDR
Words: Ellie Ward
Vienna-based Patrick Farbe is the one man effort - known under the moniker Ryvers - behind 'DDR', a track recently put out by the Austrian artist . Described as shoegaze-dreampop, Mr Farbe also delves slightly into experimental territory here as well.
The self-released via Bandcamp number was recorded live in one take with a loop pedal and a drum machine. At ten and a half minutes, it's a long haul, hypnotic listen, divided in three phases, with a large non-vocal section.
“'DDR' tells a story about three different persons - trapped in a weird system, that is impossible to escape," says Farbe. "There is hardly any importance for the individual itself; a system, that is focused on the community. Everyone should have a place inside that community – but that’s just theory. It ends how it starts, to transport the feeling of being caught into something eternal; something you cannot really influence."
