METHYL ETHEL - REAL TIGHT

Taken from their forthcoming third album 'Triage' out February 15 2019 via 4AD, the Perth quintet share the record’s second single after September's debut of 'Scream Whole'. It's quite track, merging Jake Webb's - who describes it as a “surrealist love song" - vocals as he delivers the lines “I don’t want to behind... Well I cannot lie, I don’t feel right" over a resplendent array of popgaze, art-rock, and funk.

NEIGHBOURHOOD YOUTH - AIM FOR THE HEAD

Out on November 9, the new single from the Melbourne quartet who so impressed Little Indie two years ago with 'Atlantic'. Following their summer drop, 'Stay Safe', here Liam Jenkins makes his - distinctly Australian - vocal debut on a real ripper of a tune. The guitars are the biz and the catchy melodic flow is just perfect.

HOT WAX - QUIT YOUR JOB

The Gold Coast, Queensland rock quartet bring raucous intent to the follow up to their earlier debut 'Surfing's Not Cool'. With skate punk sensibilities and a 90s rock infusion, vocalist Nicky Swamp nails equal parts split 'n' spleen.

LILIA - BOTTOM OF THE OCEAN

Released November 8, the debut single from Perth vocalist/guitarist Richard Lilje's new band. Richly melodic folk-rock, with Lilje's soaring vocals and blissful harmonies complementing the stripped back guitar. The artwork was put together by he and his mum too.

BEACHWARE - RESPITE

The first release - out November 2 via DRM - for the Auckland, NZ alt-pop quartet since last year's EP 'Twin Coast Disc Drive', fields shimmery guitars and dual vocals and harmonies from RJ Hartnell and Alexandra Selkirk-Hanna in a sub four-minute offering.

SLOW TALK - LIMBO

Melbourne alt-rock duo - vocalist James Butler and guitarist Ash Fuller - deliver the second single, out November 7, since their debut EP 'New Vernacular' released earlier this year. Combining melodic guitar effects with a prog-rock styling, the track, they say, "explores the uncertainty people experience in a failing relationship. Often there’s a duality of truths that we subscribe to at this time, believing both at once that the relationship will persist while simultaneously knowing it’s already over. It’s during this time that we find ourselves suspended in time, or caught in ‘Limbo’."
