Best new tracks Down Under #2
With the vibrant indie music scene in Australia and New Zealand constantly outshining much of the output from their British and American cousins, Little Indie picks our weekly bunch of some of the best new tracks on offer.
MAÏA - LOVE IS
Brisbane-based electronic artist of South African/Italian descent with honey-dripping vocals in the vein of Noname. Taken from her 'Motion' EP released in November, the self-produced work is intimate, yet alluringly confident and vibrant.
WILDERGLOW - OUTSIDE
After 'The One For Me' released in October and earlier debut EP 'My Days', the indie rock quintet from Melbourne have this new upbeat rocker of a track up their sleeve.
ALMOND SOY - AVENUE
Always producing solid work, the Perth indie-rockers show off the video to their latest single, a jangley three minutes helmed by Brandon Stockbridge's vocal and romantic lyrics. It comes ahead of their second EP due in April.
OILBARON - END
First taste of their forthcoming EP from the Newcastle, New South Wales alt-rock quartet. A somewhat melancholic track - especially as the four are going separate ways. The end indeed.
SAINT SPOOK - PATIENT
The Central Coast indie surf-rock quartet release this second single just ahead of their debut EP 'Full Moon' on January 25. The track bursts forth with fizzing chorus, big guitar riffs and infectious melodies.
CRAP DATE - GENOA CITY BLUES
Auckland, NZ new wave synth-pop duo unveil this debut single prior to their first live show on January 18 at Auckland's Whammy Backroom. Jamie Lee Smith (Princess Chelsea synthist) and Marcel Bellvé (Lipsink, Battle Circus) work dual vocals in perfect harmony over sparkling synths.
