** PREMIERE ** Internal Credit make their debut with self-titled track
Words: Ellie Ward
Internal Credit, a newly formed four-piece made up of members from the Red Cords, Isabelles and Holiday Ghosts, hailing from Falmouth, Cornwall, arrive with an eponymously titled debut single, which they will drop next Monday (January 21).
"'Internal Credit' was a song before it was the band name but we thought it worked for both," explains vocalist/guitarist Morgan Mathews of the track, which was recorded in a little portacabin called Cabin Fever in Penryn, and is the first cut from Internal Credit's debut EP, which arrives with the single, and which Little Indie has had our ears on ahead of release.
"It’s about an inner reserve of happiness, and how sometimes it's used up and sometime it's there," ge adds. "The artwork was originally gonna be a graph with days of the week at the bottom then different ratings of happiness and sadness on the side. We decided against this so that no one mistook it for a guide to pyramid selling!"
"We're stoked with how everything turned out! Not too shabby." And indeed, judging by this first, short (2.13), but sweet effort, that bounces along on a indie punk-pop style with a commanding in-your-face vocal, they are right.
You can catch the band live when they play their first live show on February 1 (w/ Palores and Disco Rococo) at the Fish Factory in Penryn, Cornwall.
Internal Credit are: Morgan Mathews - (vocals, guitar), Charlie Murphy - (vocals, guitar), Rob Camp - (bass, backing vocals), Jo House - (drums, backing vocals)
