Track Of The Day :: The Faim - Amelie
Words: Ellie Ward
A new single from The Faim is always something of a celebration at Little Indie HQ, and the Australian pop-rockers don't let us down with 'Amelie'.
Coming ahead of their much awaited debut album due later this year, 'Amelie' is a fast-paced banger, that, with its monochrome performance video, brings to life the immediacy of their live show.
"The concept behind 'Amelie' draws on the idea that everyone is born the same, but we become the people we are due to the influence of our surroundings," explains frontman Josh Raven. "These influences can affect us both positively and negatively, but only we control the way we react to them."
As Raven reaches out vocally - and physically - to the audience, drum rolls pound and keys reverberate aroumd him before blasting into an all-out monster chorus, that leaves the listener with - as he sings - "nowhere to run, nowhere to hide."
The band return to the UK in August to play Reading & Leeds festival. Before that they are on a coast to coast tour in the US - see dates below.
