After clearing their social media again- a sure sign with The 1975 that something is imminent - the band have dropped a new song  'The 1975', which features a four-minute speech from the 16-year-old Swedish teenager and climate activist Greta Thunberg.

The song is the opening track on the band’s fourth full-length, 'Notes On A Conditional Form', as yet without a release date.

Following in the band's tradition on previous albums of the opener being titled 'The 1975', although Matty Healy isn’t singing on the new 'The 1975', but instead hands over to the teenager, who became known for protesting outside her country’s parliament to raise awareness about the climate crisis.

“We are right now in the beginning of a climate and ecological crisis,” Thunberg begins. “We can no longer save the world by playing by the rules because the rules have changed. Everything needs to change and it has to start today. So, everyone out there, it is now time for civil disobedience. It is time to rebel.”

Proceeds from the track will be donated to the climate protest group, Extinction Rebellion.
