Track Of The Day :: Party Hardly - Rats In The Kitchen
Words: Linn Branson
Leeds indie outfit Party Hardly dropped The Hopskotch Man’ back in May, but this new single, 'Rats In The Kitchen', is a far more rousing - and way better - beast.
Out today (July 11), the second track lifted from their forthcoming EP 'Modern Strife Is Snobbish' - arriving on July 26 - is a feverish onslaught of aggressive punk laced with jangly guitars and choppy riffs. It's loud, proud, with a touch of Fontaines D.C. about it - and arguably Party Hardly's best release to date.
“Rats In The Kitchen is a metaphor for the demonization of young people by the older generation”, states frontman Tom Barr. “Throughout history these views have seldom changed, with the irony being that our grandparents would have viewed our parents in exactly the same light. Also, we had rats in our kitchen this one time”.
Catch the band on July 27 at Hyde Park Book Club, Leeds to hear what undoubtedly will be a rampant live delivery of the song.
