Track Of The Day :: Young Sierra - Talk About Sex
Words: Ellie Ward
So, let's 'Talk About Sex'.... no, seriously, we should. And no, Little Indie hasn't suddenly turned into a relationship blog, this is simply the title of the new single by Young Sierra, a probably young (but not too young) three-piece from London.
Schoolfriends in Manchester, producer and guitarist James and drummer Jonny, moved down to the capital a few years ago where they met with lead singer Ben, "bonding over a shared love of low bit-rate Drake mp3s, Eighties pop and hot-sauce".
Lifted from their incoming 'Season 2' EP, it is the first release from the alt-electro-pop three since last year's 'Dream On', and with a touch of The 1975's to it - you can almost see Matt Healy working through this - along with an insanely catchy beat, it is certainly one to talk about.
“Lyrically the song is a conversation between two new lovers, where sex seems to be the only way they can communicate with each other," explains Ben. "It was inspired by a previous relationship where we just got with each other. She didn’t particularly like her job and the song was kind of me telling her that we could maybe have done something different like run away! Looking back on it perhaps our version of running away was the sex itself."
Go on - take a listen!
