Listen :: Pom Pom Squad - Cherry Blossom
Words: Ellie Ward
Following 'Honeysuckle' earlier this month, Brooklyn's Pom Pom Squad precede their new EP, 'Ow', out September 6, with another track from the record.
This time the Mia Berrin-led project share 'Cherry Blossom', a lo-fi number that keeps it simple, although lyrically wraught, as Berrin sings how “Every time I fall asleep / I see you and someone new / under the cherry blossom tree.”
“In some ways it’s the least poetic song I’ve ever written, but it’s the one that’s taken on the most double meaning for me,” she says. “All of the upcoming EP was an exercise in saying the blunt thing, rather than the ‘smart’ thing, and this song is probably the best example of that.”
