Mystery New Zealanders ODC kick off with their 'krautdoom' debut
Words: Linn Branson
We don't know much about this New Zealand crew calling themselves ODC (as in Orewa Death Club), but they have just dropped online a first two-track instrumental delivery package that we are pretty much all over.
The Auckland-based ODC - who, according to NZ sources, may have links to the Leisure collective, who we last heard from having 'Too Much Of A Good Thing' back in May - unveiled 'I Saw'/ 'Nite Rider' last week, which they describe as 'krautdoom'.
'I Saw' is dark, industrial, edgy and filled with techno noise, feedback and vibration across five minutes like a dozen chainsaws on the go at once in a chamber of Hell; while 'Nite Rider' is a less cacophonous sub-four minutes, with a head-numbing motorik beat that becomes quite addictive the more you listen.
Listen to both tracks on link here.
