Glass Peaks fire their political anger on 'Architect'

Words: Ali Mack

After their earlier summer trip navigating 'Traffic', London-based trio Glass Peaks have dropped its follow up - and their fourth single of the year - ‘Architect’.

The hard-hitting, post-punk Brexit statement, released last Thursday, October 31 - the original date set for Britain to leave the EU - sees the band firing off on the state of the British political system right now, surrounded by darkly melodic instrumentation.

“I wanted it to ooze attitude," states vocalist Alfie Jefferies. "It was important for me to really be able to spit those words out with venom, because I'm talking about things that genuinely frustrate me to my core. The lyrics mostly revolve around how sick to death I am (as are many disengaged young adults) with the state of British politics at the moment. We're seeing politicians and 'leaders' blatantly lying to our faces and then palming it off by scaremongering and sweeping it under the carpet. The lyrics mainly refer to how much of shambles the whole show is."

Check out 'Architect' below, and you can also catch Glass Peaks play an early New Year headline show on January 31 2020 at St Pancras Old Church in London.
