With their debut album 'Replica' under their belts, Macclesfield trio Cassia brought a catchy, tropical flavour to a chilly London night in October to play their biggest headline show to date, which as soon as they set foot on the Scala stage ignites their fan base to a collective eruption of screams and cheers.
Their sound is as multi-coloured and absorbing in its catchy array of upbeat tunes, as is the light show which must have left some literally seeing stars and not just on stage, as the lights arrived like an epilepsy nightmare.
From opening number, the reggae influenced 'Loosen Up' to the closing 'Out My Mind, there was barely a set-up, as band and fans sang in unison; the front rows a heaving, dancing mass as they were treated to favourites like recent single, the bouncy ‘Movers & Shapers,’ 'Under The Sun', and the irresistible, summery 'Small Spaces', one of 'Replicas' standout tracks.
Penultimate song, '100 Times Over', with its tribal drums and quirky guitar riffs, goes down a treat as they cross Vampire Weekend with an afrobeat, and a mosh pit ensues at the front, as lights and fans alike go haywire.
If there's one thing Cassia do well, it's harness the ability to make you feel glad all over, and they managed that tonight in droves.
