Night Flowers, the East London-based, Hull formed, indie dream-pop band are here for a night at the seaside as part of their support for with Life (“We’re the soft centre between the two punk bands tonight!") on their UK Tour. With their second album, ‘Fortune Teller’, just out, this this sold out show tonight provides a good opportunity to show off its contents, even though it will be a relatively short set.
Starting off with the melancholic ‘Lotta Love’ soon gets the room listening to the synths of Boston-bred Sophia Pettit as her keys waft through the air and the guitars and drums fade in, producing an atmospheric vibe. ‘Merry-Go-Round’ gets the room moving with its infectious 80s dancebeats and synths with strong interplay between Sophia and fellow vocal/guitarist Greg Ullyart; while last year’s single ‘Losing The Light’ has the persistence of Paul Beal’s guitar riff lifting the song alongside the duo vocals of Greg and Sophia that cascade over the heads of the crowd, trickling down to their dancing feet.
