New Yorkers Joywave have just released their new single ‘Blank Slate’, which comes ahead of their one-off UK headline show in London later this month.
The dance inducing, R&B touched track, available now on Cultco Music/ Hollywood Records, was produced by band founder Daniel Armbruster at Joywave’s own studio in Rochester, New York, and will appear on the band's as-yet-untitled third full-length, due next year.
“A large portion of our new record deals with this idea of ‘possession,’” says Armbruster, “and ‘Blank Slate’ is no different. It’s about truly giving yourself over to another person, not being too rigid and allowing yourself to be changed, which is really scary. It’s hard to be that vulnerable and it’s easy to get hurt. The song always sounds like dancing skeletons to me, but this is actually only the second or third ‘spookiest’ song on the album.”
