American teens The Missing Peace make their debut with 'Runaway'
Words: Ellie Ward
The debut from Washington DC college
four-piece The Missing Peace. Released prior to Christmas, 'Runaway', shows that this young outfit - late teens/early twenties - have something to work with.
Their alt-rock sound, which lyrically channels teenage angst and emotion, is pinned with pop-punk undertones, some accomplished drumming and a lead vocal which strikes out with a gritty persuasion - we like the heavy sigh at the end too!
"We wrote this song from the point of view of someone whose upbringing oppresses them and their livelihood," they say of 'Runaway'. "Whether it be stuck in a monotonous job, or staying with the family profession, we want people to break free and run away from the linear mentality that’s been instilled by others and follow their heart, as cliche as that sounds."
