The glorious Stereo Honey are back and sounding as fine as ever on the title track from their upcoming EP, ‘Ladders To The Sun’, which drops March 6 via LAB Records.
And if the rest of the other five tracks (lyrically as adept and intriguing as previous efforts, touching on apathy in society, mental health and self-destruction) are as good as this - soaring, enigmatic and with a lush guitar and drums opening - it will definitely be one EP to get your hands on.
“It’s about an anxiety for the state of the world, spending hours and hours reading depressing news stories on the internet and feeling too powerless to stop anything from happening," explains the erudite lyricist and possessor of that wonderful voice, Pete Restrick, of ‘Ladders To The Sun’.
"Jacob’s Ladder is supposed to be a pathway to heaven but here it’s more of a metaphor for self-destruction and the danger of apathy, self- medicating to try to numb yourself and forget everything going on around you.”
Stereo Honey are lined up to play Live at Leeds Festival on May 2, and Hit The North Festival in Newcastle on May 3.
