With the vibrant indie music scene in Australia and New Zealand constantly outshining much of the output from their British and American cousins, Little Indie picks our weekly bunch of some of the best new tracks on offer.



INTROVERT - MENDING BREAKING


The Newcastle, New South Wales punks follow last year's 'Dreamers' and 'Somewhere Else', with the title track of incoming EP, out on February 21. The energetic track fires on strong guitar melodies, raucous vocals and lyrics "about a person trying their best to keep composed under all the pressures of life."

DUNE RATS - STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES (feat. K.Flay)


The catchy lead track from the Brisbane trio's new third album, 'Hurry Up And Wait', released last week via Rise Records, comes with a video which features the band and K.Flay having fun around Los Angeles together. Catch on tour in Oz later this month.

BAJILLIONAIRE - I FEEL SO ALONE IN THIS CLUB RN


Sydney artist Bajillionaire moves away from earlier electronica style, with a slow paced heartfelt pop ballad, accompanied by strummed guitar and low-key instrumentation. "This song is just me being very honest about my anxieties," he says. "I don't really like clubs, I don't really like the idea of clubbing, and going out just makes me wish I had a vice of some sort."

SNOWY BAND - LOVE YOU TO DEATH


Melbourne musician Liam ‘Snowy’ Halliwell shares his new project with this single cut (released January 29) from the self-produced and self-recorded, 'Audio Commentary' album, out March 27 via Spunk Records and Osborne Again. Described by Halliwell as “a song addressing the elusive explanation of unconditional love. An ode to enduring friendships, life-long bonds calcified over time and distance”, it's a soft, gentle meander. Catch live every Tuesday in February at The Tote!

GEORGE AFTER JAMES - IN YOUR HANDS

Auckland, NZ-based James George Fistonich shares his debut single, The lead cut from his debut EP 'Wait For You', released at the end of January. The dreamy, alt-indie-folk ballad highlights his soaring vocal, smooth melodies and intricate guitar work.

MISTY LANES - CHARMER

Following 'Release Your Love', their recent split 7” with fellow Sydney psych rockers Rosa Maria, producer Steven W. Schouten's Misty Lanes reveal a new single, a retro slice of 60s lo-fi psych-pop, featuring their trademark woozy organ and splashy guitars. Catch live on February 7 at Vic on the Park Hotel, Sydney for their single launch show.
