Listen :: Shambolics - Sandra Speed

Words: Charlie Emmett

Scottish rock’n’rollers Shambolics have dropped their new tracks and hearts to this ‘Sandra Speed’ lady!

Out now as a digital-only single on Alan McGee’s Creation 23 label, the Fife four-piece show us, through the reverb-washed melodies and swirling guitars, this girl as "lonely as a winter… frail, pale and as white as snow...", which sounds like she may be a bit anaemic, to be honest, aside from having fallen on hard times.

“I wrote the song in our studio staring out the window and seeing the very thing happen right outside” reflects frontman Darren Forbes, who provides the smoothly effective vocal. “The song is about a vulnerable girl who has mingled with the wrong crowd and lost herself.”

It's not an immediate attention grabber, this, more a slow grower, but Shambolics continue to prove themselves.
