Newcastle's DEEP.SLEEP's latest synth enriched single 'Mathilda', released January 17, "feels very much like part 2 of our last release, 'Drive'," say the band, referring to their early 2019 track.
"The two songs were written around the same time. When working on 'Drive', we really enjoyed experimenting with more electronic sounds and giving the song depth with plenty of layers, so we’ve explored with that again with 'Mathilda'.
Who the eponymous Mathilda may be is not revealed, but she's made a good subject for the anthemic number.
"‘Mathilda’ is about my carnal desire to make a relationship work," enlightens frontman and lyricist Dan Frend. "It’s about a time in my life where I was ready to bare all and give everything I had for a single second of reciprocation. These three minutes are a sonic representation of everything i felt during that time and it’s really important to me."
