Track Of The Day :: Panic Attack - Who's Got My Lighter?

Cardiff's Panic Shack are lighting up to celebrate the release of their debut single, 'Who's Got My Lighter?', which is out now digitally via Brace Yourself Records.

It may not sit well with the anti-smoking brigade, being effectively an homage to the practice now universally frowned upon, and of smoking accessories, like the lighter in this case.

"Who’s got my lighter / I’m gonna fight ya / It was a clipper / I’m gonna clip ya / Don’t tell me how to roll / This is how I roll, this is how I roll / If it’s smoke-able / Then it’s smoke-able," blasts out Sarah Harvey, as the fast-paced track - recorded by Tom Rees of Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard - spews out a raft of punk energy and abandonment.

Harvey describes the idea behind the lyrics as follows:

"It was payday, I had just treated myself to a fresh pouch of baccy, lovely. I met the gals at the pub and started rolling, there's a lot of anticipation. A passerby stops and asks to roll a ciggie… yep, no problem, here you go. I passed over the entire pouch of baccy to this increasingly shifty-looking woman. She didn't just go for a pinch, she goes for a full fist grasp on at least 25G and scarpers. She’s pegging it down the road, I start screaming ‘OH! GIVE ME MY BACCY BACK!’ After I have a few moments to cool off I have to look on the bright side... the sun is shining, I just got paid, and I'm at the pub with my best mates. I realise there’s more to life than baccy..."
